Today I updated DEVONthink Server Edition 3.6.1 to version 3.6.2.
After this update I noticed there was also an update for the add-on Abbyy OCR, however when I try to install this, it stays on version 1.1.16 instead of 1.1.17.
The log shows:
13:35:12: Installing Abbyy OCR “DTOCRHelper.app” couldn’t be moved because you don’t have permission to access “Abbyy”.
How can I resolve this? The mentioned helper-app is not to be found (at least I do not see it).

Please check the permissions of the folder ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink 3/Abbyy in your home directory.
Dis just that and the permissions seem to be OK. To be sure I made them accessible to “everyone”. That did not help, Also a restart after this made no difference, so I have put the origial permissions in place again. Still the same situation.
Does it work after enabling full disk access for DEVONthink 3 in System Preferences?
Full enabling does not work. When i follow the process in the finder I can see DTOCRHelper being renamed to DTOCRHelperOLD, and a new DTOCRHelper is appearing. However that last one then very quickly is automatically removed and the the OLD-variant is renamed back to DTOCRHelper .
To be sure I just renamed DTOCRHelper myself (a different name) and I could see there was a download of a completely “fresh” DTOCRHelper that was erased at the end of the downloadproces

Nope. Not a difference at all 
Try renaming the Abbyy folder to AbbyyOld and retry the update.

A new folder for Abbyy is created in the location ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink 3/ .
Only: it is empty 
It is quite odd, really. Never experienced this kind of problem with DT.
The MacMini is a replacement for my very old MacPro from 2009.
The SSD’s from that old machine have been placed in an external ssd-housing. The installation of DT is on the SSD named UserData in that housing. In fact the same constellation as in my old mac.
Everything is working fine otherwise. Only this problem is occuring and to be precise: OCR is still working OK.
However I am concerned about the inability to update this add-on. Updating DT3 is going as it should. No problems there.

I can’t see why it would fail at that point as it should have full rights to write to that folder. It could be your anti-virus false triggering as the file is uncompressed, however I haven’t seen that before.

I met the same situation and this trick works for me (I also gave DEVONthink a full disk access. maybe helped too).
A suggestion about this: why not show the installed Abbyy version in, eg, OCR configuration screen?
When will Devonthink get a Apple Silicon update of DTOCRHelper? DTOCRHelper is one of the last Intel programs on my Mac and the last Intel program that runs permanently in the background.
That is not under our control. We are waiting for word from ABBYY.
