About item link in Custom metadata

I tried to add custom item links in the Custom metadata for the backlink.

However, the actual screen of Custom metadata was lack of searching function, which present in regular ‘add item link’ by right mouse click in Markdown editor. I have to choose the location by myself. It is crazy to find the files within an over 40GB database.

Is there any better way to do it?

Only Edit > Insert > Item Link… supports searching but this can’t be used for such custom metadata.
