Add HTML tags to markdown seems to mess up rendering

I just inserted the <mark>...</mark> tags in a markdown document to highlight some text and just realized that that mess up the render of that part of the document in DEVONthink to go.

Is this normal, is it a bug… is there a workaround?

DEVONthink To Go uses MultiMarkdown 5, which handles HTML tags differently than MMD6.

It would be great to render things in the same way across devices/platforms.
