Add new value to the columns

I have about 20 values to choose for files: name, author, etc etc.

Is possible to create new values?
Or the only way is to create tags?

Yes. Or Spotlight Comment or Aliases.

DEVONthink doesn’t support custom metadata (columns would be a case of custom metadata)
