is there any way to add e.g. a PDF-Document to favorites? I can’t seem to find the button to add it.

The Favorites smart group is for groups only. You can somewhat circumvent this by creating a regular group, naming it the same as the desired document, add this group to Favorites, then replicate the document to this group. That’s too much trouble for me, but I do occasionally replicate documents to a group named Favorites that I have added to the smart group.

You can add it using the contextual menu.
Right click on an item, and you get this:
The document then appears in Favorites.
Double click in the side bar or use the Go menu to get to it.
But that’s not DEVONthink to Go.
