after updating, Global Inbox is empty

I couldn’t find my global Inbox at first, but I read a posting in the forum that suggested closing and reopening the application, and clicking “Continue” if I got a notification that the Inbox was in use. I did that, and it obediently reappeared–but it’s empty! I had many things in there, as I hadn’t cleaned it out in a while; how do I get it back???

(I suspect this is a sync issue, but it has disappeared from my sync preferences as well.)
