Alias / Wikilink Naming

Some apps… Obsidian, Bear, support an alias name for Wikilinks. I don’t think this is part of MultiMarkdown. Maybe DevonThink allows this? e.g. Yesterday.

In bear this is rendered as Yesterday and is a clickable link. When clicked it would take me a document named Aug 21.

This has been discussed before. See e.g. this recently active post.

I want to point out that there are different implementations. Logseq uses …

[Display Text](Wikilink)

… which IMO makes more sense than Obsidian’s approach, in part because it has no issue with document names containing the pipe character.

And this is exactly the problem with a lack of standards, a problem we try to avoid contributing, when possible.

Understood. But VHS vs BetaMax, Broad Gauge vs Standard Gauge vs Narrow Gauge. To name two common and well known standards battles. I am more than happy to have DT set the standard!

Thanks. I’ll use that for now. A bit cumbersome… but it’ll work…

I have asked this before… but maybe you know a way… image size on the image tag? I don’t think DT supports it… but maybe you know a way?

To mention for the n-teenth time – DEVONthink records can have aliases. Multiple aliases. And links in markdown in DEVONthink respect aliases.

If the document “My final plan for reaching Mars and enjoying universal acclaim” has the alias “The Plan”, then The Plan is a valid, working link in markdown documents in DEVONthink.
