I thought I’d just be able to right-click a smart group and get a link, then build normal groups populated with similar Smart Groups. How can I accomplish this?
You can’t subgroup them, it’s only possible to duplicate them. Inside databases you could also manage smart groups in a group hierarchy but each smart group is independent.
Thank you. I just figured that out and logged back in here to report. This is also related to the question in the following thread: [DT3] Dragging Smart Groups
To achieve what I was trying to accomplish in the sidebar, I simply needed to apply a tag to the Smart Groups created in the databases. I created a tag and named it Smart Group. Now I can find that, or any, tag in a sidebar Smart Group. Voila, instant Smart Group lists, customized to my own taste.
