Backing up Tags?

Hi, I’m curious about this … I regularly BU my DT database files to Time Machine and thumb drives, but I’m wondering if this ensures my Tags are also backed up?
I really want my Tags backed up, and so want to confirm that this is happening, or not.

The tags are part of the database. It is a self-contained single package file.
