Best Practice for iCloud Drive database exports?

Hi,

I’ve been using my 2TB iCloud drive for storing periodically exported database ZIPs - this is super redundant, as I have (several) other parallel backups.

One question I have is, is it OK to export directly into the iCloud (virtual) drive - or is it better to export say, to Desktop, then just drag it into the iCloud drive?

Reason I ask, is I know the virtual drive is syncing with the cloud all the time, and I wonder whether the packets might not at some point go awry - or is it silly?

thanks

A zip is just a file. It can or can’t get broken was any other file you’re putting in your icloud drive. I wouldn’t worry too much. If Apple did their job, an open file won’t be synchronized.

Gotcha, thanks! - so it’s being zipped into the virtual drive, but won’t upload until completed.

Well, that’s what we hope is happening. Nowadays, who knows?
