Best way to save an iOS app store link from App Store app

How to I best save an iOS app store link from App Store app to DTTG?

I tried in the App Store app the DEVONthink share action and chose Formatted Note as the format (webarchive was not amongst the options - why?). However the DEVONthink record was crippled not showing a proper view of the app.

On macOS the whole thing is easy, because I can just view the app link in a browser and send the webarchive of that page to DEVONthink. But on iOS the app link redirects straight to the iOS App Store app and the share action there doesn’t seem to work properly.

Any ideas how to do this from the App Store app on iOS?

The options available in Clip to DEVONthink depend on what information is provided by the sharing application. In the case of the App Store it shares not only a URL, but an image and some text too. Clip to DEVONthink combines the information into a Formatted Note document, in the same format as you would see if you shared the same App with Mail.

When you say that the record was crippled, what do you mean? What was the contents of the formatted note? Did you get a title and image and an URL?

Thanks for the explanation, Alan!

That’s exactly what I get - while I was hoping to get the webpage either as bookmark or (even better) as webarchive. (Websites disappear so easily from the web!)

Unfortunately the url supplied by the App Store works differently depending on which platform you are on. On an iOS device the url redirects to the entry for the App in the App Store application, and if you try to webarchive that url you get an archive of an Apple redirect web page. On the mac the same url shows the iTunes web page for that application.

Thanks for this, aedwards.

Is there any way to trick the web part of teh ssytem into thinking that we are not on iOS? Mayve via another user agent in the share extension or the like?

I tried other iOS browsers (iCabMobile, Firefox) with changed user agent, but iTunes links are always asked to be opened in the App Store app.
