Can I exclude filetypes with smart searches?

I do not see this in the forums or help.

Can I search for filenames that are NOT ending in certain ways. By example, I have indexed folders with LaTeX files. I want to exclude the .log, .aux, and others (and only see the .tex). The folders also include PDF and PNG and other file extensions that I want to keep. IOW, I know precisely what filetypes I do NOT want more than I know what filetypes that I want.

Does the search criteria have the equivalent of “does NOT end in”? Or must I manually specify every file extension that I want?

I will do this the hard way for now. I can add file name extensions systematically.
