Changes in PDF forms are not saved

Hi there,

I have the problem that PDF documents are not saved when entering data in the PDF form. After going to another document, the filled out PDF is empty (filled out fields are empty).

Any ideas?

There is no specific support for PDF forms in DEVONthink.
What behavior do you see in Preview?

Actually entered values should be saved.

Which version of macOS and of DEVONthink do you use?

I use both latest versions.

Preview allows me to edit forms and save them. And I’m sure that editing forms worked a while ago in Devonthink. I had the same issue a while ago and forgot about it.

Just open the PDFs in Preview, and if the author did it correctly, should work.

Here is a random document I found on the internet. Search on google for “filetype:pdf Antrag_Anerkennung_schulisch_03-04-2023_01.pdf” I have the problem with any PDF.

The forum doesn’t let me add links or files. Sorry.

Actually it should be (at least the forms we tried work as expected). Which version of macOS do you use? The used document would be useful too.

I cannot share the document as it is confidential.

I tested on another form that was not password protected and it worked.

Now it seems like that these changes are not synced to the mobile app. However, when I edit the same document on my iPad (write with the pen), these changes are appearing/synced to the desktop app on the Mac. On the Mac I do see both changed.

Short:

  • Filling out PDF forms on the mac are not synced to the mobile app.
  • Editing the PDF on the mobile app are synced.

DEVONthink To Go does not support PDF forms.

Not supporting means that the mobile app is not displaying the entered data from the Mac? I don’t need to edit it mobile. I have a pen for this. However I need them to be displayed on both devices. Currently only the writings with the pen are being synced to both devices.
