The current set of hilite colors is too dark for my impaired vision. Anyway the colors can be hacked for softer colors? And the hilite button on the toolbar should allow rapid selecting of colors rather then many steps as is now.[/size]
A future release will probably include preferences to set up different highlight colors. And until the the toolbar item will be improved, you could use the contextual menu to select the desired highlight color easily.

Worked around the problem by scripting my own hiliting colors. 
love working around a limitation with scripting. 
btw, it would be nice to allow scripts on the context menu in a doc window, or editing what menu items are in the context menu.
