Chat with documents in different languages

Hi

I have connected DT (D.4.3.2) to Mistral AI with as parameters looking only in my Databases.

I would like to know the rules about how DT will search and render the results of a Chat based on the fact that I have documents in my Databases in English and in French ?

Actually there’s no such rule - modern models simply reply in the same language as your prompt. In case of local and/or cheap models a dedicated instruction might be necessary.

OK thanks for the reply but is the model will search in the French language documents if I prompt in English or is just looking into the English documents ?

This is controlled by the prompt and the model. How does a typical prompt look like?

If a model answers me in English when I write in Spanish, normally I write “and now answer in Spanish” and, except a medical one I have, it does in Spanish.

And if I know it mostly answers in English, or I want the answer in another language, as some job I’m doing with Jules Verne, I add in the prompt: “answer in French”, and it answers in French.
