Clip from local PDF that includes file name?

Hello,

I have searched the forum and user manual extensively and can’t figure this out. It seems simple, but I’m stuck, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a number of PDF articles on my hard drive, but not actually in Devonthink Pro. I am able to select a paragraph from the PDF article and right-click “Services” > “Take Rich Note” and the paragraph is added to my Devonthink database. The problem is, there is no indication of the source file that I clipped the paragraph from. I would like the PDF filename to be included as part of the clipped paragraph so that I can remember where I originally clipped it from.

If this is possible, please let me know. Preferably, I would like the process to be automated (i.e. I’d rather not have to enter the name of the file manually as a tag).

Thank you very much in advance,
jjw

That’s unfortunately not possible as the Preview application isn’t scriptable. Otherwise DEVONthink would already store the path to the original document (like it does e.g. in case of TextEdit or Pages).
