Clip into template, populate placeholders

Is it possible, or feasible, to clip selected text from a browser (in Markdown) into a template and have placeholders like URL and Date Created automatically populated?

Alternatively, can I clip and then have an MD template automatically filled and filed using the clipping metadata?

I know that a normal DT clip will place all this information in metadata, but I’d like it in the actual doc.

This isn’t supported by DEVONthink but is probably scriptable.

My ideal would be able to choose from a dropdown list of templates when clipping via the group selector, and have a note automatically built based on the template’s metadata placeholders.
