Suddenly, Clip to Devonthink has been opening a new instance of DTPO. Why? It’s been working for years. How can I stop this?
You have multiple copies of the application installed on the machine. You should do a Spotlight search for kind:app name:devonthink to find them. You should only have one installed.
What I didn’t mention is that I had already done that search. I found one copy where it should be, in the applications folder, and a second one on a backup drive. I ejected the drive, yet the behavior repeated itself. Each time, I get an alert that you can see in the attached screenshot.
Another note from earlier troubleshooting: In one instance, I did opt to install a new copy. So then I had that copy plus the one I had before; two copies open at once. I traced each to the Finder and found that they seemed to be the same one.
