CloudKit syncing takes up 30.9 GB to sync 16.27 GB of databases?

I am using the latest stable version of DT(TG) on MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad. Never used legacy iCloud sync before. Currently using CloudKit and Bonjour to sync databases between three devices.

My problem: on my Mac, ~/Databases, which contains all my DT databases, is 16.27 GB, but when I view my iCloud storage usage on all three devices, DEVONthink To Go takes up 30.9 GB. Is this normal and if not, how do I fix it?

Thank you in advance!

  • Did you upgrade from DEVONthink To Go 2?
  • Are you looking at iCloud or device storage?
  • Yes, sorry that I forgot to mention it. I participated in DTTG 3’s beta testing and migrated my data from DTTG 2, which used Dropbox and Bonjour for syncing, to DTTG 3 beta, and later installed the stable version from the App Store.
  • I was indeed looking at iCloud storage. I just checked my iPad Storage and DTTG took up 15.96 GB, which seems normal.

Hello Jim, I take it that the issue I experienced is indeed abnormal? Would it be a good idea to try cleaning the sync location (CloudKit) and re-upload the databases from scratch?

Open a support ticket and we can go from there. Thanks!

Will do, I appreciate your help Jim!

You’re welcome
