Clutter-Free Formatting Glitch?

I’ve noticed when using the clutter-free layout option in DevonThink that sometimes italicized text is rendered non-italicized with a lower dash _ on either side of the word.

For example, here’s a paragraph straight from a webpage: “Solo scriptura is, according to Mathison, an unbiblical position; proponents of sola scriptura should uphold the claim that Scripture is the only infallible authority, but should repudiate any position according to which individual Christians are the ultimate arbiters of Scriptural truth.”

When I send it to DevonThink with the Clutter-Free option checked, I get this: “Solo scriptura is, according to Mathison, an unbiblical position; proponents of sola scriptura should uphold the claim that Scripture is the only infallible authority, but should repudiate any position according to which individual Christians are the ultimate arbiters of Scriptural truth.”

Is this intentional, or a glitch?

Which format did you use to clip the web page?

This particular example was clipped to a one-page PDF. I just tried it for Rich Text and got the same result.

Here’s the link to this particular page if you want to test anything, but I’ve seen it happen on multiple websites:

calledtocommunion.com/2009/1 … authority/

Now, on some pages it happens only occasionally. On this page (firstthings.com/article/201 … apologetic) most of the italicized words come across fine, but some don’t.

Thanks for the infos, I could reproduce this and will forward it.
