I know that in Prefs there is a check mark to make alternating rows be colored differently. It is working, but it is such a light distinction on my PB screen that I really don’t see much of an effect.

It doesn’t seem to follow the pref for highlight color I have in Apple’s prefs. Is there a way to play with this function so I can get it more usable?

If you’re using Mac OS X 10.3.x, then this option just uses the system-wide color for alternating rows (btw: that color isn’t related to the highlighting/selection color) but there’s no system preference yet to change that color. That’s not ideal but DT is just applying Apple’s guidelines.
