Completely stuck, help! Cannot install Mail plugin in Mojave?

One major reason, among others, that Mojave has persisted in usage, is that macOS 12.14.6 Mojave is the final version which supports the last version of iTunes.app (v12.9.5.5), which many audio users have traditionally rated as more preferable or even necessary in their setups to use over the newer Apple Music app.

Obviously, as the Apple Music app has progressed with some improvements over several iterations of newer macOS, and more pertinently, with this year v.likely being the final year it’s usable without massive compromises, makes updating and moving-on a popular scenario for these users.

EDIT: Can a mod open my ac to being able to reply, as I get the “as a new user, have to come back in several hours before being allowed to post again” (sic) pop-up on here. Which is someone unhelpful. TIA!

EDIT 2 (to below msg from @BLUEFROG) - nope, still getting it.

EDIT 3 (to below msg from @BLUEFROG) - again… nope, same message.

Something about “cake and eat it too…” here. Dilema.

And you’re you still seeing this right now? Your trust level has gone up one level already. Let me know.

test working, thanks.

Yeah, I guess so, lol!

Firstly, FYI the DEVONthink_BigSur.mailbundle file needs to be compatible with Mail.app v12.4, if you want it to work on Mojave (dunno if same for Catalina).

Secondly, been playing around with importing mailboxes with attachments. Have a few questions.

1.) I wondered what the difference(s) actually are between using these import options:

  • Add mailbox(es) & attachments to DEVONthink AppleScript.
    vs.
  • Apple Mail app .mailbundle plugin.

p.212 of the manual (3.9.6) merely states:

Note: The import of entire mailboxes via AppleScript can be a resource-intensive process. Use the Apple Mail plugin for a more robust experience importing mailboxes.

Any chance of some further elaboration on this, please.

2.) I'm trying to understand how email attachments are imported, and handled/shown in DT.

In the database, is the only way to see these is as a folder?
e.g. Mailbox of 10 emails, with 2 emails that have attachments (one 3, other 4)… so in the sidebar you see a folder for those two emails nested under the parent mailbox containing all the emails?

Is there any way to simply show emails by email date order, like clients such as Mail.app do? Preferably with attachments branched off each email, again like mail clients?

I’m highly confused with understanding the whole email with attachments viewing, TBH.
Read the manual a lot more, but can’t work it out from that.

3.) Replicants vs. Duplicates… don’t understand these at all?
