See the In & Out > Going Paperless (Other Options) section of the built-in Help and manual for the specific optimal scan profile settings.
If yours is set up that way, you can use either ScanSnap’s OCR or DEVONthink’s. Personally, I would use DEVONthink’s so it can just OCR when it receives the document.
That’s exactly my opinion. I trust DT but Ricoh not so much. The my setting not let the scanner/app handling the OCR is correct. Since I import several languages I can set DT to detect what language. Just reinstalled DT4 so will go ver the settings again.
And make sure you check the details of your ScanSnap Home scanning profile.
Yup, I have it set NOT to do searchable .pdf.
