Confused about paragraph linking between documents

I have some documents in Devonthink where I’ve, in the past, been able to copy the paragraph link in one document and insert the link into another document, but now I’m not able to do that. For example, I have a RTF document that I have linked to from another document, but if I try to copy the link for a different paragraph in the RTF document, the option doesn’t appear in the Edit or context menus. Also, I can’t copy paragraph links from other documents.

Has anyone any idea what I’m doing wrong?

We can’t link to paragraphs but there are options options in the link syntax
See the Devonthink documentation: Item Links

I don’t use RTF documents, but here’s a link to text generated by the Edit>Copy with Source Link
for the word Testing on page 3 of a pdf
x-devonthink-item://0E29D9C2-39FF-468D-B46C-9F0F91FA128E?page=3&start=863&length=7&search=Testing
Using the link, shows me the exact location in a pdf, with the search text highlighted

You sure can and have been able to for some time now. This is with a rich text selection…

This yields an item link, e.g.,…

You need to provide more information on this.
What version of macOS and DEVONthink you’re running would be helpful tp start with.

Devonthink 3.9.5, MacOS 14.3.1.

The next day, I went back to Devonthink on my Mac and linking was working. Perhaps restarting DT has fixed the problem I was having. I’ve experienced the inability to link paragraphs a couple of times before and then when I’ve checked again, it’s worked.

I’ll try and provide screenshots if it happens again.

The current version is 3.9.6. Please make sure to stay up to date on our point releases.

Also, don’t forget to reboot at least once a week.
