I’ve used DEVONthink Pro on my MacBook Pro for a number of years (now version 4, of course): it is absolutely indispensible for me. As DTTG (also version 4) is included now in my licence I did wonder…should I, is it worthwhile?
In a nutshell, downloaded it, installed it on my phone, created a rather smaller database from one of my DTP databases (containing items I’d like to have with me when travelling) and set up Bonjour sync (after much cautious reading of manuals—and all worked first time). I’m delighted with the result and found the DTTG interface intuitive and helpful.
I simply want to take the opportunity to thank the whole team for all of their continued work creating and supporting this superb software duo—and wish you all a happy festive season and a healthy 2026.
Same. Devonthink is a godsend. It has helped me in many situations, not too sure I would be able to do the support I do for the office I work in without it. Having it on my phone when I move round the office is really great. Having so many notes and tips in a searchable database is very helpeful for all parts of my life. Many thanks Devontechnologies for providing such great and handy software.
I couldn’t agree more. We often dwell on criticism in this forum and neglect to give well-deserved praise. I am delighted with the direction DT has taken with v4 and grateful for the work of developers and staff.
My wife and I use Devonthink for everything. We have about 30 GB of data in 10 databases. Everything from serious research and analysis to trip planning and manuals for all the appliances we have in the house.
It is superb software that constantly gets better. You can reach the staff there easily and they are responsive. It is fairly priced and adds a ton of value to my Apple hardware. . My biggest worry is that the Devonthink team moves on at some point - but there are no signs of that. But they are a small company.
I (by far) prefer to work on a computer versus an iPad or an iPhone. I tried for years to be productive on an iPad, but whatever work I did there took 3x as long as on a Mac. The advent of quality small portable Macs with Apple silicon made me give up on the iPads for work-type tasks. They are great for watching sports as I move throughout the house
I always have my iPhone with me, but the screen is too small to do anything of consequence.
Having said all that, I sync ALL of my databases to both my iPad and my iPhone. For me, there is value in always having all of my data with me - especially when I don’t have my computer. Travel data on your phone (reservations etc..) is really useful when there is a question at check-in in some far away place late at night. Being able to look at a manuals when on your back behind an appliance (hello iPad) is also useful. I could name many other use similar cases. But I do use DTTG as READ-ONLY and try to enter all data on my computer.
I fully agree and thanks to the team of developers and for the continued support.
I’m using DTP on a daily basis as my paperless office. Connected to a ScanSnap, it’s absolutely fantastic! All in sync and I have access from everywhere with DTTG.
What has been accomplished since v1 is outstanding. Resumed in one word is BRAVO
