Convert PDF to Text?

I have thousands of pdf files that I ran through an OCR program before I started using DT. It’s almost impossible to find a program that will show you the text layer so when I read about Data > Convert > plain text (and many others), I jumped on it with a PDF+text file. I got nothing. Did the file get created and stashed in a place where I don’t know to look for it? OCR, as everyone should know, does not “see” text correctly 100% of the time. More like 80%, particularly with newspaper clippings. Am I missing something here?

I know it will not help you - I have not had any problems converting OCRd (in DT) to plain text. How did you OCR yours?

I think I may have just encountered a momentary “lapse” by DT. I tried another file and it worked just fine. What was intriguing, after executing the Data > Convert > Plain Text command on a file was that OCR only “saw” the first few lines. I deleted that file, tried again and DT executed OCR on the entire file. I really like the option to view the text layer - it is amusing, sometimes, to view what OCR “thinks” the text is! As to what program I’ve used to do OCR - the most recent is PDF Studio 2024. I’ve used other programs in the past but the developers “improved” their software by removing the OCR option. And forget about viewing the text layer!!
