creating an html page

I’m a newbie, so please forgive the basic nature of this question, but I have not been able to successfully create an html page. I don’t quite understand how to get the web page information onto the page… Whatever I do I end up with a blank page… Please help!! Thanks.

Create a new HTML page via Data > New > HTML page, then switch to the source view (via the “Text View/Preview” icon in the navigation bar above the document), insert your code and switch back to the layout view using the same icon.

I’m not sure what you mean by “insert your code”. I tried using the view/preview" icon, but don’t understand how to insert anything. Do you mean the URL? I tried typing and using cut and paste but that is not working either. It’s not letting me type in or add in anything.

Does the web page that I want to copy have to be opened via DTP? If so, how do I do that?

Otherwise, what I assume I’ve been trying to do is to make an HTML page based on a web page that I have opened in another window.

Thank you.

If you want to capture existing web pages, then you could e.g. use

  • bookmarklets (see Help > Bookmarklets)
  • Take Plain/Rich Note or Capture Web Archive services
  • scripts (see Script menu extra while running Safari)
