# Custom metadata date default

Hi,

The custom metadata “date” type defaults to 12/31/2000. And there does not seem to be a way to let that field be empty. If I type in a 0, the field just goes back to “12” or “31” or what have you.

Is there a way to change the default be “NA” or simply nothing? Am I missing something?

No. The date field must be populated with a date value.
