Devonthink 3 seats and differences

Hello,

I’m just trying out Devonthink 3 Beta. I like the update. A couple of questions before I commit to upgrading:

  1. what are the differences between Devonthink 3 and Devonthink 3 Pro? I currently use DT Pro Office and would not want to lose functionality, but I can’t find a comparison between DT 3 and DT 3 Pro.

  2. How much will a “seat” addition to a license cost? I use DTPO on three computers – home Mac, work Mac, MacBook. I assume I will have to buy a seat or constantly reauthorize one of my computers. So how much will that cost. And would the developers ever consider expanding the standard seats to three?

  3. Is there an academic discount for upgrades? If DT3 fits my needs, I have no problem paying the $25 upgrade cost; but if I have to upgrade to DT 3 Pro to retain all the current functions in DTPO, $99 makes me pause a little.
    Thanks!

  1. Pro features are listed here: https://www.devontechnologies.com/apps/devonthink/editions
If it’s listed here, it’s not available in the Standard edition.
  2. Go to https://www.devontechnologies.com/apps/devonthink and click the Buy button. The price per additional seat should be listed.
  3. Yes, educational discounts are available.

Thank you. But just to be clear, the editions comparison page shows OCR capabilities. From your comment I would infer that the standard DT 3 does NOT have the ability to OCR pdfs. Is that correct?

Correct. Standard does not have OCR.

OK. Thanks. That’s what I needed to know.

Speaking of seats, is an iPad running DTTG considered a seat?
I was hoping my DTPO license would allow running on my MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, and iPad Pro.

No.
DEVONthink doesn’t run on iOS. DEVONthink To Go is our mobile application and is a separate purchase.

Right. Didn’t mean to imply that in my second sentence. Used DTTG in the first.

No worries! Cheers!
