Hi, I’m trying the new Markdown functions. When I’m creating / editing a markdown file. I still have to generate a new table “by hand”. If there is already a table in a markdown file, I can edit it in WYSIWYG style. Is this how it is supposed to be? The symbol for tables and Lists when editing are greyed out.
This is only supported by rich text and formatted notes so far.
You can open the Markdown file in an external editor like Zettlr, which allows you to generate and edit tables and lists without needing to write out the source code.
Thanks, yes I know, I use Typora…. Just wondering why I can edit a table WYSIWYG but not create one….
Editing the table in WYSIWYG will at some point hopefully allow adding rows (press return on cell of last row), deleting rows, adding/deleting columns, etc.
Oh that’s very helpful, particularly because it also never would have occurred to me that I didn’t have to type an opening pipe character for the new row!
Yes, opening and closing pipes are optional.
It may feel “neater” to some, so either way is fine.
Don’t want to open a new thread for this but I’d be grateful if someone could explain me how to achieve what I describe in the screenshot below 
If I add a blank at the beginning of the line “this should be…”, it disappears. If I add a second blank, it becomes part of the quote.
I do not manage to retain it as a separate line - outside of the quote - but within the bullet point…
That is not supported, even in other Markdown editors that I’ve looked at.

Yes, I can type the syntax to make a table as BLUEFROG showed, but unfortunately that’s a lot of awkward typing. The rest of markdown is simple to type on the fly while taking notes, but tables are pretty clunky.
As DT has the icon for tables, my vote is to turn that on and let us fill in the cells.
In the meantime, I use a program called Tables.app from the Mac App Store. I think it’s really an iOS app but it runs fine on Mac. It doesn’t save, so you build the table and then hit a button that puts all the md code onto the clipboard, then paste into DEVONthink. It’s a decent workaround but means that if you want to edit the table, you hopefully have not since made a new table in Tables.app (it keeps the most recent table you made, even if you quit Tables). Then you can delete the old table in DT, make the changes in Tables, and paste the new one into DT. Perhaps DEVONtechnologies could just buy that app and integrate it into DEVONthink!
Markdown keeps getting better in DT and I’m really happy with the latest version.

There is also TableFlip. i don’t know how the two compare.
The column sizes of a table in WYSIWYG mode are confusing and have little to do with how the same item previews. In fact, I can’t really discern how you are calculating them. A two-column table for me has the first column very narrow (so text wraps), and the second column really wide (a lot more room than necessary), which is not a great result. Thank you.

I guess the top image is from the preview. In which case it’s probably a CSS issue.
Do you have a custom CSS installed? If so, what does it look like?
