The XPC service shouldn’t be necessary as long as the browser provides the source. Is DEVONthink allowed to automate Safari? Or do you use the extension or a bookmarklet?
I am using the sorter, not the extension or a bookmarklet. It all happens in Orion, Vivaldi, and Safari browsers. DEVONthink is allowed to automate all of them. Toggling that on and off didn’t help.
So far I couldn’t reproduce this issue but the next release will include some improvements (e.g. Markdown clipping won’t require the XPC service anymore)
Sounds good. I look forward to it and keep quitting and restarting. Thanks for all your efforts.
Devonthink is highly valuable to my daily work as a GDPR consultant and performs exceptionally well. I use the AI feature with the Claude API and zero data retention many times each day; however, after the upgrade, the AI reports that the database I use is read-only and therefore unable to generate a Markdown document—for example, when I request a summary note in the database after a chat.
This is a known issue that the next release will fix. In the meantime you could either use DEVONthink via MCP in other apps (e.g. Claude.app). Or enable the MCP tools of DEVONthink’s chat assistant (see Settings > AI > Chat)
OK, since I only can get Zero Retention on the API, it’s my only option for now.
I will wait for the update/fix.
I think the problem have chagged, the last 4 times, the document have been created without any issue or warning. DT 4.4
Ole
I can happily report that the issue disappeared after upgrading to 4.4.1. Thanks a lot for including the solution in this update.
