DEVONthink To Go 4.1 Lagrange*, the first feature release of the fourth generation of our mobile app, introduces widgets, support for RSS and Atom feeds, and a brand-new Markdown parser and renderer. Have your inboxes, recently viewed documents, favorites, and your reading list always in reach with widgets on your home screen. Read your news and favorite blogs on the go. Feeds are updated automatically, if desired, even in the background. Choose the best article format on a per-feed basis if needed. And yes, there’s a widget for unread feed articles too.
Our new Markdown renderer replaces MultiÂMarkdown 6 and delivers more reliable previews and broader syntax support. It combines the most popular features of MultiÂMarkdown, CommonÂMark, GitHub Flavored Markdown, and more.
Version 4.1 also supports BibTeX documents, merges multiple images, including TIFFs, into a single PDF document, and let’s you open text documents and PDFs directly in editing mode, saving you an extra tap every time you want to make changes. We’ve revisited the group selector, too, which now sports a search field and keyboard navigation. If you’re relying on the geolocation saved with each document you can now open a geolocation in Apple and Google Maps or edit it if it’s incorrect.
Of course, we’ve also improved the overall reliability and performance, and fixed bugs and glitches.
You can find a complete list of all improvements in Settings > Help > Read Me inside the app. The New & Improved page also highlights what’s new in each feature release. We recommend this update to all users of DEVONthink To Go. The App Store will either install the update automatically for you or you can find it in the Updates area of the App Store app. If you are still using an older generation of DEVONthink To Go, version 4 is a new app and you’ll need to install it manually. DEVONthink To Go 4 is included with every license for DEVONthink 4 Pro or Server for Mac as long as it receives updates.
*) We’re naming this release after the mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange (1736–1813) who made significant contributions to the fields of analysis, number theory, and both classical and celestial mechanics. Lagrange’s work has had a profound impact on our understanding of celestial mechanics and has practical applications in space exploration. His solution to a special form of the three-body problem, the Lagrangian points, represent the perfect balance of the gravitational forces of two stellar bodies.
