Different account types on iOS and iPadOS

Last June, in anticipation of 4.0, I extended my DTPro 3 subscription for another year. To wit, my license number begins with DTP3-.

DTTG was released a few days ago, so I installed it on my iPhone and iPad, immediately noticing a discrepancy: the license type is “Legacy Yearly” on iPhone and “DEVONthink Pro” on the iPad. Both of them are linked to the same account (i.e. same email).

What is the reason?

Thanks!

On your iPhone, DEVONthink To Go 4 detected a legacy one-time purchase from version 3. On the iPad, version 3 was, likely, not installed and so version 4 couldn’t detect it. It might pick it up eventually from our backend server but that causes no harm.

I see. So if I understand correctly, the two apps have the same license (same payment, same duration), albeit with a different description. Thank you, Eric.

My iPad (26) DTTG 4 is recognising my Pro subscription, iPhone (26) is only recognising the monthly DTTG3 subscription (which I’ve cancelled as of 12 December).

I wonder if the iPhone will recognise the Pro account once the subscription becomes invalid?

Not entirely. Your iPhone detected the one-time purchase which gives you a free license until the end of 2026. It will then fall back to the unregistered state and you can then register it with your DEVONthink for Mac license. Your iPad, for some reason, did not detect the one-time purchase and so uses the Mac licenses.

Not automatically, but when the subscription expires you can register it with your Mac license. We don’t do this automatically as we keep you in control.
