Different Annotation format between DT and DTTG

I just moved to DT and DTTG from Evernote.

I have DT on three Macs and DTTG on my iPhone and iPad. I am syncing using iCloud CloudKit and so far everything is going well.

As I am starting to explore DT in more depth, first thank you to everyone on the team for a very powerful tool. I am looking forward to learning more.

One thing I encountered as a newcomer. It does seem strange that DT and DTTG have different default file formats for annotations.

Since DTTG uses Markdown as its annotation format, I was expecting to find a preference in DT to have DT use the same annotation file format.

Is there a preference that I am missing to do this?

Thank you in advance and thank you again for all your work on DEVONthink!

Thanks for the nice feedback!

It does seem strange that DT and DTTG have different default file formats for annotations.

Remember iOS ≠ macOS and technologies underlying them are not all the same.

Rich text is not a mobile-format and presents extra development challenges to support. Therefore Markdown is the native Annotation file format.

There is no preference to set a default file format for Annotation files in DEVONthink. You can choose a template Annotation file in the Annotation flyout in the inspector.
