Difficulty with Sorter → screen capture (selection)

Hello,

I have difficulty understanding how to use the sorter screen capture (selection)

For example, my most common use (multiple times a day) would be in a web page.

I am in a Chrome Web page → sorter → screen capture (selection) (example below taken from reddit) → I end up with the sorter looking like the ScreenShot below

1- How and where can I insert that website’s URL ? Is there any way to do this automatically ? I tried to do it manually by copying the web page link and pasting into comments, but comment is only text mode (no clickable links).

2- Since I do this many times a day, I want to use a keyboard shortcut to trigger the selection capture ? . The shortcuts in the manual ⌘1,2, and 3 are in my case reserved for Keyboard Maestro macros, and would like to know how where I can change the default DevonThink shortcuts

3- in the sorter as shown below, is there any way to access a search box when I click on the “location” dropdown list ?

thanks in advance for your time and help

None of this is currently possible, #3 is at least on the to-do list. Just wondering but what’s the purpose of screenshots of web pages? The text isn’t searchable/editable afterwards, taking e.g. rich notes via services would fix these issues and automatically grab the URL.

thank you @cgrunenberg

you mention that the shortcuts cannot be changed but even if I disable those Keyboard Maestro macros which use those shortcuts, ⌘ 1,2,3 (as described in the manual) do not work. May I ask you how those shortcuts should be used ? After the sorter is open ? Even with the sorter open they do not work.

to answer your question: because it’s always the issue of capturing both text and images at the same time, and because some formats like an annotated image of a section of a web page (especially forum comments like reddit!) are (IMO) visually much easier to read than an RTFD.

Images are a recurrent issue, for example if I take a Bear Note written in Common Markdown → share to DevonThink, images are absent.

The shortcuts are actually Cmd-Alt-1/2/3/…, Cmd-1/2/3… can be used in e.g. the Take Note & Clip to DEVONthink tabs to change the format.

Images are (in general) “absent” from Markdown. Like HTML, MD contains mostly only references to images, not the images themselves.
This can be overcome by data URLs as DT uses when capturing formatted notes or web archives (not sure, which it is). But then the files grow huge.
So, if you want different apps to display images in your MD correctly, you have to reference them with absolute URLs like file:///Users/me/images/picture1.jpg or with an URL pointing to some remote location.

OK thanks very much

@rufus123: Bear isn’t built with a simple file-based architecture. So it’s impossible to store the Markdown documents and associated links in the Finder and make them accessible in DEVONthink.
