Do plain text, rich text, and Word files still open as copie

Slide 8 of the Online Tutorial “How do I import or index documents using DEVONthink?” states: “Attention! Plain text, rich text, and Microsoft Word files are stored inside the database structure itself, and so opening them in an external editor will open a copy! This behavior will change in a future version of DEVONthink.”

Is this still true? I opened a Word document that was stored inside a DT database, and it seemed to be edited directly, not as a copy.

No, not still true. The database structure changed with version 2.0 so all documents opened with another application work directly with the document that is stored in DEVONthink. I believe all the online tutorial slides and videos are for DEVONthink 1.x.
