I don’t know how to locate those documents in v2 since they don’t exist anywhere with those names.
Another conversion issue for me is failures like these:
16:10:46 : Pages08_UserGuide Failed
16:10:46 : Numbers08_UserGuide Failed
16:10:46 : Keynote08_UserGuide Failed
Some of those I’ve been able to locate because the names matched corresponding filenames. But there are others which are untraceable, at least not without reinstalling v1 and checking if they have titles in the database referring to files with different names.
I anticipated v2 having some trouble converting documents that had an out-of-date Path after my recent Tiger to Leopard migration. What I didn’t know was how errors for them would be logged (if at all).
Part of the problem is that error logging is frequently too vague and esoteric. Enough details about the original documents could be included so it might be possible to locate them (if they have external files in v1) without having to reinstall v1 and hunt for them. And I’d like to know why a particular conversion failed, not just that it did.
This is applicable error logging in general, not just during v1 (export) to v2 (import) conversions. Any improvements would be appreciated – thanks!
