Currently, it’s possible to copy the link to an item and paste the link in another program. It would be very useful to be able to drag the link (something like cmd-opt-click and drag) to other programs.

Seconded. It would be very useful to be able to drag a link - say using the usual command-option-drag of aliases - into programs like Scrivener and Tinderbox. “Copy item link” is a great feature and it’s a shame that it’s only accessible using the Edit menu: at the very least there could be a contextual menu item.
