DT quits when a group name is changed at the root level. Highlight group in column view. Delete the name and type another. Then click on another group. The problem does not seem to occur with hitting return. :’(
This bug is only related to column views and some systems (e.g. we’ve been unable to reproduce this bug for some time now - everything’s working fine over here). Could you send us a profile of your machine (see System Profiler > File > Save As)? Thanks!
This info was in the "logs" section of Apple system Profiler. I will have to send the three crashes in separte notes because your softweare tells me that the message is too long.

Thanks for the logs but we’ve already received some of them (telling always the same story that the event handling of Cocoa is crashing…). Guess I should have been more precise in my previous posting, sorry.
What we need are complete system profiles (see System Profiler > File > Save As) to figure out why this is happening on some but not all machines. Thanks.
I have copied the file so desired and pasted below
Apple System Profiler
Hello
I like your software a lot and am considering buying it. :)
However, I also have this crashing problem in columns mentioned here. Even clickong on a folder in the root level starts the eternal beach ball. List vies seems to work fine. here is a complete overview of my system. Click to download.

Furtnermore, Japanese is essential to me, and there are some problems which I will post separately.
Best regards

Christian,
Do you still want System Profile files regarding this bug? I have to remember to use Allan’s suggestion (14th Nov) of hitting return after creating a new group at root level to avoid crashing DT. Haven’t yet loaded the Panther upgrade discs.

I’ve got the same sort of problem. Whenever I drag a new RTF file into a group folder, DT 1.7.3 dies like a peroxide blonde in a B movie. Fast. And busty.
I’m running a Bondi Blue iMac that’s had a brain transplant to 466 MHz G4, with 512 MB of RAM.

The upcoming release v1.7.4 will finally fix the following two problems:
-
Crashs after renaming items in column views (both under Panther and Jaguar)
-
Freezes or crashs after drag & drop in column views (only under Panther)
