is there a chance to remove that red distracting “update available” button at the top right corner of every DT window?

Agree with OP. Should have way to rid of RED update permanently. Clicked it few days ago but it came back today making it look desperate to get users to upgrade.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience but that’s definitely not the intention, it’s most likely just a bug (or caused by initial hiccups of our license server). In the end it’s a beta after all and we’re investigating this.

Same here. I clicked it, but then it reappeared. I’ve also set the “Check for Updates” setting to “Never” — but that doesn’t prevent the red update button to go away permanently.
This button is an eye sore and wasting screen real estate. I’ve kept a semi-permanent location as 1/4 of a screen for DEVONthink and it’s taking up space that is otherwise useful for the search box.

hm, it was mentioned “it’s a bug…in the end it’s a beta…” - but DT 3.9.9 isn’t a beta and still shows / reappears that red button on some installations (not at my side) - just my two cents 
Do you not trust they will resolve this well-known irritant, regardless of what’s said i the forum.
The comment mentioned two things.
Currently, the red “update” button annoyingly reoccurs every day, even if searching for updates has been deactivated in the preferences. Hope this will be fixed soon.
