DT3 is soo smart!

In some databases I have a folder in the normal file system indexed by DEVONthink.

In DT2 when adding new documents through DEVONthink they where not added to the indexed file system folder, but as DEVONthink-internal documents. I then had manually to select “Move to External Folder” on that document to move it to the folder.

DT3 now seems to be smart enough to know by itself to move it to the external folder. That’s fantastic!

Just curious - how does DT3 decide whether to put a new document into the indexed folder or into the database?

If the database group is from an indexed folder in the Finder, newly added documents to the group will be moved to the indexed folder in the Finder. If the database group is not from an indexed folder, newly added documents to the group will be contained in the database.

Makes sense. Thanks.

That’s, as I thought, a new feature, right?

Yes, New to DEVONthink 3.
