At last (for me) I have got the hang of sync, almost.
When I upload a (new) database from MacA to Dropbox, the database is listed on the MacB under Remote. Am I right in thinking I must then import the database into MacB in order to access that database And later in MacB, click sync for that database to sync with MacA?
Also, apart from Clean, is there another way using DT3 to delete a database from Dropbox (without going into my dropbox account)?

Yes. Every DEVONthink database - whether on Mac or mobile - is a local copy of the database that must be imported to the device.
