DT4 first impressions

Having drafted most of my article for this month’s edition of the magazine I write for, the versioning feature is super. A version saved every 15 minutes or so. A slight hiccup when I clicked the go back on the writing area top bar and it froze but I rescued that and resumed.

I use CleanMyMac, used it to uninstall DT3 when the first beta of 4.0 came out, and everything was fine. I keep all my databases in a folder called “Databases” in my home folder, in case that’s relevant. You get shown a list of what it’s going to delete, so you can check none of your databases are listed and verify that it’s just doing what you’d do manually to uninstall the application. I’ve never seen it make an unsafe decision though.

Yes, there are lots of bad “cleaning” utilities, but CleanMyMac is one of the good ones, I’ve been using it for years. Before that I used AppCleaner, same kind of deal, look at what it tells you it’s going to delete.

Not expecting to change the overall recommendation, just reporting in case anyone is now worried because of using the tool.

We appreciate your report and are glad it worked out for you. However, we still recommend a safe, manual approach to a deeper cleanup.
