DT4 on Tahoe slows to a crawl after a couple of days

I moved DT4 a few weeks prior upgrading to Tahoe. On Sequoia DT4 was a dream and a great improvement for speed and efficiency using DEVONthink.

Since moving to Tahoe every other day DT grinds to a crawl when tying to import a page or search in DT. The interface just is slow to respond to clicks and typing. I end up having to force quite DT. When I restart things are back to running really well for a couple of days then it is back to being nearly unusable.

Today I went through and disabled the default Actions for DT4 as I don’t have a need for them. I also decreased the hourly RSS sync (I only have three or four sources I poll, which are all my own end points.

We have no other such reports and there isn’t enough information to assess here.
In DEVONthink, hold the Option key and select Help > Report Bug.

PS: It’s too late now but you shouldn’t immediately upgrade to the .0 release of an operating system. They tend to be buggy and Tahoe is no different. Waiting for a .1 or .2 release is advised.

I’ve been a Mac user for over 25 years and develop for them, so I know the trade offs well.

I found a lot of “Smart Rules” running in DT4 that I don’t remember turning on (other than finding dupicates) and I turned all of them off. I then emptied the cache and trash. Ran the trio of maintenance scripts (verify & repair, integrity, and optimize), then cleared cache again. Then restarted DT4 and it stopped hanging.

DT4 had been running at 30% to 60% CPU continuously and the last 4 days has been running 2% to 4% at rest, which was about the norm prior.

I tried these steps before sending the bug report and with it back running fine I’ve held off as a log report wouldn’t have much helpful.

Glad to hear it’s working better now!

What kind of schedule/trigger did these rules use?
