DTPO 2.9 leaving Mountain Lion behind

I have just discovered that DTPO 2.9 now requires 10.9 at least, which leaves my Macbook Pro 2,2 (officially only Lion-compatible) behind. I can see why at some point you have to leave old technology behind, but it is still sad. :frowning:

Will I at least still be able to open the same databases in DTPO 2.8 and 2.9, that is: is the new database-structure backwards-compatible?
