I have the free version of DTTG 4, although I did buy DTTG 3 several years ago. I have two databases, one about 5 gigs and one about 14 gigs on my MacBook Pro. I understand I can only sync one of the databases to my iPhone 17e from my MacBook Pro using the free version. I’d like to sync the 14 gig one if that’s all I can do, but can I combine the two databases into one larger one and sync that one.
I was somehow able to get the Inbox to sync earlier.

Did you begin a subscription in DEVONthink To Go?

The free version does not feature synchronization at all and only allows you to use one database.
I have 2 databases (apart from Inbox) that are synced via iCloud (CloudKit) to DT 4 on my Mac.

That is correct, sync is part of the subscription. Sync will stop working whe the subscription finally expires. If you use DEVONthink Pro or Server on the Mac, you can also use that license now for DTTG4 (as long as you are keeping the Mac license current).
So that means that the Pro or Server “subscription/license” must be renewed each year for the DTTG4 sync to continue to work?
On the Mac we can stop the licensee from receiving updates with new features when the license is not extended. So you keep the software as-is as long as it works or you think it would be worth updating to the last version.
On iOS we cannot do this due to the way the App Store works. And as we cannot develop features and other improvements for DEVONthink To Go for free, using the Mac license for the iOS version is coupled to the license being extended to receive updates.
