DTTG, DTPO, Dropbox

Morning.

I would like to have full access to my data in DTPO as well as in DTTG. So I am wondering whether I could store my DTPO databases in ~/Dropbox in order to synchronise them with my Dropbox account (1 TB). If I do so, would I have with DTTG on my iPhone full access to all items and data in the databases, so that all changes, which I do on my iPhone with DTTG would appear in DTPO on my Mac, and vice versa?

Kind regards, Friedrich

No,

Storing your databases (the .dtBase2 files) could lead to destruction and loss of data. It is a bad idea.

Instead, leave your databases on your computer. Create a sync store that is located on Dropbox – a sync store is different to a database and was designed to reside on Dropbox and other cloud services. Sync DTTG to that sync store.

Is there some definition of “full access” that doesn’t get addressed with the recommended method? If you’re thinking that DTTG accesses databases the same way as DEVONthink on the desktop does, that’s not the case. DTTG operates within the limits of iOS and some features (like smart groups) do not operate there, but your files will sync.
