Duplicating Content

What is the difference between “Duplicate” and “Replicate” and where is the reference explanation?
I often want to put a pdf into multiple folders and wonder what I’m trading off between one command and the other.

Thanks.

Duplicate:
Creates a copy of the content. Both contents (the original and the copy) are independent (if you change one content, the other one is not modified for example)

Replicate:
Creates a new reference to the content and therefore replicated items use the same content. If you modify one of the replicants (including the original item), all replicants are modified (actually only the referenced content used by all replicants).
