Email archive incomplete

I have archived email from an account on Apple Mail, and some of the emails only partially imported. Specifically, it looks like the headers are there, but the actual email text is missing, and the file size corresponds to that as well (much smaller than expected).

I’m not sure rearchiving would help, since the message UUID is already in the database. Would deleting those messages and then attempting a re-archive pull those messages in? And if so, is there a way to search for email messages that are blank in a database?

What does a problematic email look like when viewed with View > Document Display > Text Alternative?

Still blank.

Drag and drop a problematic email from Apple Mail to the Finder. Select it and press the Spacebar. What do you see?

Curious … when I drag and drop a problematic email from Apple Mail to the Finder, it doesn’t show up in the Finder. As I’m dragging on to the Finder, I get a small green “+” sign as expected, but upon dropping the email isn’t there. For non-problematic emails, I’m able to drop on to the Finder. Pressing Spacebar then shows a copy of the non-problematic email.

I would recommend you do a Mailbox > Rebuild on the account in Apple Mail and try the drag and drop after it’s finished.

Unforutunately not an option for me. I no longer have access to the remote server to re-download all the mail. Any other possible solutions?

That would be outside our wheelhouse as we don’t control or have access to those email servers. If dragging from Apple Mail to the Finder yields a broken email or none at all, there’s no course of action I can suggest from our side.

Got it.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings :frowning:
