This is weird, and something somewhat recent, I believe.
Take this scenario: there is a PDF file in my Inbox. I open this in Preview.
I then switch the two pages in the file, i.e. the first page moves to the bottom, the 2nd page to the top.
I then go to save, but Preview tells me “the original document can’t be changed, so a duplicate of your changes has been created”.
I didn’t used to have issues editing PDF files that come from DevonThink?
Anyone have a fix for this? Thank you!
No, there is no fix for this and it’s an Apple issue, not a DEVONtech one.
Apple doesn’t allow for modifying the files in the User’s App Support folder, hence this warning. The only fix is moving the file into another database first.
PS: This has been the case with macOS for a long time now.
Hi, that makes sense.
The reason I’m noticing a difference likely lies in the fact that I’ve just upgraded to version 3 and am missing the thumbnails view option for documents. I used to just remove unwanted pages directly in DevonThink instead of an external application, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get version 3 to display thumbs instead of document pages?
Oops, nevermind - just found where to click for the thumbnail sidebar…
PS: That - and a lot more - is covered in the built-in Help and manual.
